Technical Specifications

Standard sizes, tolerances, finishes, thicknesses, calibration, QA and packaging for marble/stone.

Standard sizes

Slabs

  • Typical raw slab 1.6–2.1 × 2.6–3.2 m (varies by quarry)
  • Polished/Honed slabs on A-frames, book-matched on request
  • Calibrated thickness: 20 ±0.8 mm, 30 ±1.0 mm
  • Jumbo slabs: up to 3.0 × 2.0 m

Cut-to-size / Tiles

  • 300×300, 300×600, 400×400, 600×600 mm
  • Custom sizes: waterjet/bridge cut per drawing
  • Edge options: sawn, eased, chamfered, bevel
  • Mosaic tiles: 10×10 cm

Thickness & calibration

  • Tiles: 10, 12, 15, 18, 20 mm (project-dependent)
  • Slabs: 20 mm (most common), 30 mm, 40 mm
  • Calibration tolerance (tile): ±0.8 mm up to 600×600; larger formats ±1.0 mm
  • Flatness (warpage/bow): ≤1.0 mm per 300 mm edge
  • Custom thickness available on request

Surface finishes

  • Polished – high gloss, low porosity at surface
  • Honed – matte/satin
  • Brushed/Antique – textured, slip-friendlier
  • Leather – subtle texture with low sheen
  • Sandblasted or Bush-hammered – exterior/anti-slip layers (often with honed top)
  • Edges: bullnose, bevel, miter; sink/cutouts per CAD
  • Flamed finish for outdoor use

Dimensional tolerances

MetricValue
Length/Width (≤600 mm)±0.5 mm
Length/Width (>600 mm)±1.0 mm
Thickness (tile)±0.8 mm (≤600 mm); ±1.0 mm (large)
Edge squareness≤1.0 mm per 600 mm
Rectangularity / orthogonality≤0.5% of side
Flatness (face)≤0.5% of side, max 2 mm
Diagonal difference≤2.0 mm

Values align with common project specs and EN/ASTM practices; quarry/stone variability may require job-specific limits.

QA & testing (typical)

  • ASTM C97 water absorption & density | EN 13755
  • ASTM C170 compressive strength | EN 1926
  • ASTM C99 modulus of rupture | EN 12372
  • Slip resistance: DIN 51130 / Pendulum TRL (on finished surface)
  • Color/vein variation is natural; lots are matched per order with photo approval
  • Final QC: thickness gauge, diagonals, edge chips, surface finish, resin/mesh integrity
  • Abrasion resistance testing

Packaging

  • Tiles: export wooden crates, interleaf, nylon wrap, desiccants, corner protectors
  • Slabs: A-frames or wooden crates; foam interleaf; steel strapping
  • Labels: item code, size, thickness, finish, lot/batch, net/gross weight
  • Moisture control for long ocean routes
  • Custom labeling for branding

Installation & care (brief)

  • Dry-fit and sort by shade/vein before setting
  • Use suitable adhesives/mortars for natural stone; white mortars for light stones
  • Back-butter large formats; allow movement joints per EN/TCNA
  • Seal where required; maintain with pH-neutral cleaners; avoid acids on calcite stones
  • Exterior use depends on freeze-thaw, slip resistance and finish—confirm per project
  • Regular maintenance guide available
